‘They’re Killing The Bears!’ SNL Utterly Skewers Trump Cabinet — Complete With an Off-the-Wall Portrayal of Gaetz and Alec Baldwin as RFK
Saturday Night Live took aim at President-Elect Donald Trump’s controversial cabinet picks during this week’s cold open, rolling out impressions of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The scene opened with James Austin Johnson’s “Trump” meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden, played by SNL alum Dana Carvey.
“I am very fastly picking the most epic cabinet of all time! They’re some of the most dynamic, free-thinking, animal killing, sexually criminal, medically crazy people in the country!” Johnson declared.
He continued, “Well, we’ve got Elon and Matt Gaetz, that’s an ‘Alien Vs. Predator.’ We’ve got Kristi Noem and RFK Jr. They’re killing the dogs! they’re killing the bears! And, Melania will be working remotely from divorce.”
Cast member Sarah Sherman then appeared sporting “Matt Gaetz’s” signature coif and arched eyebrows.
“I just want to thank you for nominating me for attorney general,” Sherman said. “I’m going to do a great job. If anyone tries to break the law, I’ll tell them what I told my eyebrows: Freeze!”
Alec Baldwin made a cameo as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In a loud, husky voice, Baldwin said, “I’m so honored to be the head of the Health and Human Services Department. Americans need someone to teach them how to be healthy. Someone like me, a 70-year-old man with movie star looks and a worm in his brain.
“I care deeply about a woman’s right to choose, to choose to give her child polio,” he continued. “I just wish people would take my appointment more seriously. All right, I gotta go. I got a dead dolphin in my car. I think I might saw it in half and dump it in Central Park.”
Carvey then addressed Johnson: “You gotta remember this, you got off easy. I think we both know if I was still in the race, I would’ve beat you like a drum!”
“Joe, that’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard anyone say,” Johnson replied. “And, for that reason, I’d like to offer you a position in my cabinet!”
