Second Annual Pop-Tarts Bowl Features Bonkers ‘Fast & Furious’ Tribute To Fallen Pastry and Other WILD Moments
The second annual Pop-Tarts Bowl Saturday featured a bonkers Fast & Furious-style tribute to a strawberry breakfast treat that was eaten last year by the winning team while one fan tossed one of the snacks into this year’s ABC broadcast booth.
Saturday’s game paired up two teams that both at one this season had playoff aspirations – Iowa State and Miami (Florida) – in Orlando in what was formerly the Cheez-It Bowl.
The Cyclones and Hurricanes ended up facing off in a middling bowl that again fully embraced its sponsor.
Clips of Pop-Tarts running wild on the field and above Camping World Stadium went viral on social media.
One such moment that took social media by storm (which you can view above) was a tribute to a life-sized strawberry Pop-Tart that the 2023 game’s champion Kansas State Wildcats ate after the game.
Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” played while the resurrected strawberry treat emerged from smoke from up high Saturday.
ESPN added a bit of context to the moment for anyone who might have missed 2023’s game:
…Wildcats coach Chris Klieman received a Gatorade bath. Players headed to midfield, where they donned Pop-Tarts Bowl champions T-shirts. Quarterback Avery Johnson was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. A trophy was hoisted.
Then an oversized frosted strawberry Pop-Tart then climbed atop an oversized toaster and descended to its toasted doom. Seconds later, sure enough, an edible, oversized Pop-Tart emerged from the toaster’s bottom slot. Johnson and Klieman enjoyed bites. Satisfied with what they saw, the bowl’s planners went to work on making the next year’s edition even more over-the-top.

Beyond the tribute to 2023’s late strawberry Pop-Tart, this year’s spectacle featured a number of moments that went viral:
