Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh gave an impromptu lesson on the cardiovascular system Thursday when he was asked about his team playing in cold weather.

The Chargers on Saturday will travel to Foxborough, Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots. At Gillette Stadium, the temperature will be in the low 40s with rain. It will be unfamiliar weather for the Chargers, who play their home games inside the domed SoFi Stadium.

Harbaugh, however, isn’t concerned about how it will affect his team. The first-year coach said:

We had a little rainfall last week one day of practice. That was great to to have that; but most all of us have played in those kind of games, you know, or grew up in that kind of weather. And the bottom line is, I mean, these guys are young. They’re healthy and their heart pumps warm blood, you know, pumps it from the arteries to the veins, to the tributaries, to the capillaries — you know, throughout their whole body. You just play ball. Been my experience.

I might have got that in the wrong order there. It’s-well documented I’m not a doctor; but I know it’s warm blood young, healthy, athletic guys are able to generate.
