ESPN’s Adam Schefter Absolutely Nukes Fox Sports Host Doug Gottlieb in Social Media Exchange
ESPN insider Adam Schefter took a brutal shot at Fox Sports host Doug Gottlieb when the two got into it on social media Monday.
In a Monday evening tweet, Schefter reported that Sacramento State was interested in hiring retired quarterback Michael Vick to be its next football coach. Schefter also added that the university plans to move its football team up to the FBS, where it would play against other major programs. To do this, the school would build a new stadium and make use of the $50 million in NIL funding that it has at its disposal.
Gottlieb — who’s in the middle of his first season as head coach of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay men’s basketball team while also maintaining his radio gig — wasn’t buying it.
“Jeezus Shefty, edit what agents tell you,” Gottlieb said. “0.0% chance Sac State has $50m in NIL.”
In response, Schefter emphasized that his information was indeed accurate. Thirteen minutes later, Schefter responded again with some harsh words about Gottlieb’s first season at UWGB. As of Monday, the team was just 2-10.
“The SAC-12 leading the schools NIL efforts already announced it has reached its initial goal of raising $50 million in NIL funds to strengthen the school’s case for an invitation to the PAC-12 or Mountain West conference,” Schefter said.
“And Jeezus, Doug. A seven-game losing steak and last place in the Horizon League? Less time on social media and more time in the gym.”
