Stephen A. Smith Demands Answers to Drone Sightings in the Northeast: ‘I Saw Independence Day, Dammit!’
Stephen A. Smith on Monday turned a conversation about the lowly New York Giants into a discussion about the mysterious drone sightings in the Northeast.
Much of America’s attention has been occupied by unidentified drones that have been spotted flying over military bases. As the public — and even elected officials — continues to demand answers, the U.S. government has yet to provide an explanation for the drones.
On Monday’s episode of First Take, the panel was recapping the Giants’ Sunday game against the Baltimore Ravens when Shannon Sharpe said the Giants “might need to fly some more planes overhead.” It was a reference to fans paying for a plane to fly over the stadium last week with a banner urging the team owner to fix the team.
While on the subject of aircraft, Smith decided to get something off his chest about the drone controversy. He even compared it to the Will Smith-led movie Independence Day.
“Let me tell you something, these damn drones in New York City,” Smith said. “The United States government, get it together! Get it together! There’s drone flying over people’s houses in Jersey and New York! I saw Independence Day, dammit! I ain’t underestimating none of that stuff! Figure it out!”
