Chris Cuomo Blasts ‘Lefties’ Who Downplayed Trump Assassination Attempt: ‘Exactly Why You Lost’
Chris Cuomo blasted liberals who downplayed or dismissed the July assassination attempt against President-elect Donald Trump and said he felt “a measure of satisfaction” he won the 2024 election because of that on Tuesday morning.
On his YouTube channel, the NewsNation host broke down the stories of 2024 that he found the most interesting. Naturally, Trump’s being grazed by a would-be assassin’s bullet in Bulter, Pennsylvania, on July 13 was a topic of conversation.
While Cuomo stated in no uncertain terms that he was not a supporter of Trump, he went off on the “lefties” he said either downplayed or attempted to minimize Trump’s brush with death.
“What I found completely appalling and outrageous was how unimpressed lefties were by Trump getting shot in the head,” Cuomo said. “And how many of you would say, will you stop saying he got shot in the head or just nicked his ear?” Cuomo continued:
Fuck you! You get nicked in the ear by a bullet and tell me that it’s no big deal. I’m good. I’m good. Nah, nah, that’s crazy. If that had happened to Harris, you guys would have talked about it for three days nonstop about how we’re in helter-skelter mode or whatever it is. And then you call me a bigot for saying that this is why you lost the election. That’s exactly why you lost the election. You are out of touch. You lost the plot about how people feel in the majority. That’s what you did.
And that was a perfect example of it. That situation? Well, I think it was just a teleprompter. You would have never assessed it that way if you didn’t wish the guy had died. How fucked up is that? That you wished he had died? That you played down that he was shot. It was disgusting. And I, for one, felt a measure of satisfaction that you were punished for it politically because there is no place for that. He would have – he is not the standard of any kind of virtue. Okay. And he still beat you.
Cuomo added he loathed America’s two-party system and blasted Democrats, who he said had grown out of touch with a majority of voters.
“You got to figure out why they feel how they feel and meet them there and offer them something better,” he said. “Otherwise, whoever doesn’t do that is going to lose. And it doesn’t matter if it’s Donald Trump – if he’s closer to how people feel in the moment, you lose. That’s what just happened.”
Trump was addressing immigration in Butler in July when he was grazed in the ear by a bullet police said was fired by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
The Secret Service came under scrutiny following the shooting.
