Kentucky Republican and House Oversight Committee chair Rep. James Comer on Sunday evening issued a statement via social media blasting the full and complete pardon of Hunter Biden issued a short time earlier by President Joe Biden.

In a surprise announcement on Sunday evening, President Biden pardoned his son Hunter on all charges he’s facing, for which Hunter was facing sentencing during December. Those cases involved federal gun charges and tax evasion charges respectively.

Comer has been the most forward face for Republicans in pursuing investigations against both Hunter and Joe Biden, and frequently appears in conservative media to condemn what he describes as “the Biden Crime Family” — a charge he leveled again on Sunday in a furious reaction to the news of clemency.

In a brief statement released via his social media accounts, the committee chair claimed that Biden has “liked from start to finish about his family’s corrupt influence peddling,” and added that Biden not only “falsely claimed” innocence of any wrongdoing, but “also lied when he said he would not pardon Hunter Biden.”

“Joe Biden has lied from start to finish about his family’s corrupt influence peddling activities. Not only has he falsely claimed that he never met with his son’s foreign business associates and that his son did nothing wrong, but he also lied when he said he would not pardon Hunter Biden. The charges Hunter faced were just the tip of the iceberg in the blatant corruption that President Biden and the Biden Crime Family have lied about to the American people. It’s unfortunate that, rather than come clean about their decades of wrongdoing, President Biden and his family continue to do everything they can to avoid accountability.”
