Piers Morgan Leaves Rupert Murdoch’s News UK To Take Ownership Of His ‘Uncensored’ Brand
Piers Morgan is leaving media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s News UK to take full control of the growing Uncensored brand in a deal that will also see him sign on with Red Seat Ventures, the agency representing Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly.
It was revealed early Wednesday that Morgan’s production company, Wake Up Productions, had secured ownership of the YouTube channel that already boasts 3.6 million subscribers.
Under a four-year revenue-sharing agreement, News UK will receive a portion of advertising earnings generated by the increasingly popular Piers Morgan Uncensored until 2029.
Speaking to Mediaite, Morgan relayed his excitement about the move.
I have had a great time working back at News and am delighted that we will continue to be partners. Owning the brand allows my team and I the freedom to focus exclusively on building Uncensored into a stand-alone business, editorially and commercially, and in time, widening it from just me and my content. It’s clear from the recent US election that YouTube is an increasingly powerful and influential media platform, and Uncensored is one of the fastest- growing shows on it in the world. I’m very excited about the potential for Uncensored.
Speculation about Morgan’s future has swirled since his three-year contract with News UK ended in late 2024. The commentator is expected to maintain ties with Murdoch’s empire, continuing to pen occasional pieces for various News Corp publications. A book deal with the Murdoch-owned publisher HarperCollins will also still go ahead, with Morgan indicating he’ll finish that project this year.
“It’s clear from the recent US election that YouTube is an increasingly powerful and influential media platform,” Morgan explained. “I’m very excited about the potential for Uncensored.”
