California Gov. Jerry Brown: Climate Change Deniers Are ‘Contributing’ to Wildfire ‘Tragedies’
California Governor Jerry Brown called out those who deny climate change today, accusing them of “contributing” to the deaths caused by the on-going wildfires in California.
“This is truly a tragedy that all Californians can understand and respond to,” Brown said at a presser today, amid the rising, 29 person death toll and the over two hundred who are missing. “It’s a time to pull together and work through these tragedies.”
“Managing all the forests and everywhere we can does not stop climate change. And those who deny that are definitely contributing to the tragedies that we’re now witnessing, and will continue to witness in the coming years,” he added. “The chickens are coming home to roost. This is real here.”
Brown made the comments a day after President Donald Trump threatened to pull some federal funding from the state due to the fires, which he blamed on “poor management” by officials.
There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!

The town hardest hit is Paradise, California, where numerous search parties are in the area looking for missing persons. So far, 150,000 people are still displaced and the fire has blazed through roughly 400 square miles of the state’s territory.
The ongoing wildfire marks the second fall in a row California has suffered from such a disaster. Last year, the state suffered a blaze that took 44 lives and destroyed thousands of homes.
