Sky News Journalist ‘Forcibly Removed’ From Tory Party Election Campaign Launch During Broadcast

Sky News journalist Darren McCaffrey was forcibly removed during live broadcast from the Conservative Party’s campaign launch at the ExCeL Centre in east London on Wednesday evening.

The launch event followed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s announcement of a general election date earlier in the day. Tensions were high as journalists, eager for updates, attempted to gain access to the event despite selective media arrangements.

In a dramatic live broadcast, McCaffrey narrated his ejection as security escorted him out of the building.

The journalist said: “Hello, I’m currently at a Conservative party launch. This is where the Prime Minister is going to speak in the next few minutes and I’m being forcibly removed.”

He continued as event personnel moved him down the hallway: “We just simply wanted to have access tonight as Sky News, but unfortunately we were told that because there were pool arrangements in place we are not allowed to be here.”
