‘Liz Cheney Could Be in a Lot of Trouble’: Trump Fans Threat Of FBI Investigation Into Former GOP Rep Over Jan. 6 Probe Handling

President-elect Donald Trump wasted no time in backing the call for an FBI investigation into former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney after a House GOP subcommittee urged the Justice Department to investigate her handling of last year’s Capitol riot probe.

In a brash post on Truth Social account early Wednesday, Trump hinted that Cheney “could be in a lot of trouble,” seizing on a development that has stunned Washington.

The House GOP subcommittee, chaired by Congressman Barry Loudermilk, has accused Cheney of improper coordination with key witness Cassidy Hutchinson, claiming she engaged in witness tampering by “colluding” on testimony.

While details remain sparse, Trump applauded the committee’s interim report, calling it “a job well done” and fanning speculation about potential legal action.

In response, Cheney has torn into the findings, dismissing them as “a malicious and cowardly assault on the truth.”

She continued to rebuke the subcommittee’s claims and added: “No reputable lawyer, legislator, or judge would take this seriously.”

The fierce rebuttal sets the stage for a deepening rift within Republican ranks, as supporters of the former Wyoming congresswoman contend that Trump allies are trying to rewrite history regarding the January 6 Capitol riot.

Cheney, an outspoken critic of Trump, was front and center during a press tour with his election rival Vice President Kamala Harris this year.
