Trump and Vance Host ‘American Hero’ Daniel Penny in Box at Army-Navy Game – Along With Hegseth, Gabbard, and Speaker Johnson

Daniel Penny, who was acquitted this past week in the New York City chokehold case that left Jordan Neely dead, sat with President-elect Donald Trump and his inner circle Saturday at the annual Army-Navy game.

Vance invited the former Marine to the game earlier this week while describing him as a “good guy” whose life was imperiled by “mob” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

“Daniel’s a good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone,” Vance said on social media in response to a report that the two would watch the 125th edition of the game in Trump’s suit. ” I’m grateful he accepted my invitation and hope he’s able to have fun and appreciate how much his fellow citizens admire his courage.”

Minutes before kickoff in Landover, Maryland, on Saturday, one of Trump’s X accounts shared a clip of Vance and Penny – who was called a “hero” – standing together.

House Speaker Mike Johnson was also in the suit, using his phone to take photos.

Trump later showed up and was filmed in the suite waving at fans in the stadium:

Trump traveled to Saturday’s game cabinet nominees Rep. Mike Waltz, Tulsi Gabbard, and his besieged Pentagon pick Pete Hegseth:

A CBS camera briefly cut to Trump’s booth before the game during the singing of the national anthem:

Penny was found not guilty this past week of criminally negligent homicide in the 2023 death of Neely. The verdict was handed down after a manslaughter charge was dismissed.
