Piers Morgan Intervenes as Guests Throw Down Over Whether Murdered CEO Deserves Empathy: ‘We Can’t Hear You!’

Piers Morgan pleaded with two guests on his show to be respectful of each other Wednesday night after they sparred over whether murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson deserves “empathy” after he was assassinated last week.

Thompson was murdered on a New York City sidewalk after police say Luigi Mangione hatched and carried out the plot. The suspect is currently being held in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition back to New York.

In the wake of the slaying, Mangione has become somewhat of a folk hero for some who view him as the personification of taking on corruption in American healthcare.

The topic was raised on Piers Morgan Uncensored after the host asked former Bernie Sanders spokeswoman Briahna Joy Gray and MAGA commentator Natalie Winters for their respective opinions.

Gray went to the mat for millions of Americans she said had been victimized by companies such as UnitedHealthcare.

After Morgan asked her point blank if she had any “empathy” for Thompson and his family, Gray replied, “I personally don’t.”

Morgan appeared taken aback, turned to Winters, and said:

Well, at least you’re honest. I mean, I find this staggering. You’ve got to remember the left is supposed to be the party that cares so much. All of them have their be kind hashtags. They’re the caring ones, the kind ones, and they can’t even bring it in their hearts to say they find a shred of empathy for a man who’s just been executed, who’s the father of children, the husband of a loving wife, and so on. I find that just staggering that you can’t, on a human level, have empathy for the murder of someone, but also make your point about the system in which he was an executive. I mean, what’s your response?

Winters’s response drew interruptions from Gray, resulting in an argument and intervention from Morgan:

WINTERS: I’m not a supporter of the United States healthcare system or apparatus. Believe me, there’s so many problems that need to be fixed and adjusted there. But condoning, which is in effect what these two panelists are doing, the assassination of him by a roundabout way by saying, Well, the healthcare system –

GRAY: [Inaudible]

WINTERS: You just told me that you had absolutely no empathy and that you think what people are doing by gunning down healthcare executives because of bad decisions.

GRAY: Right. Ma’am!

[CROSSTALK]

WINTERS: I’m asking you a question.

GRAY: I do not condone vigilante violence in either instance!

WINTERS: If you think –

GRAY: So don’t misrepresent my view. If you can make your case without telling a lie, miss, then you should do it.

MORGAN: All right, don’t talk over each other, we can’t hear you.

[CROSSTALK]

MORGAN: Don’t talk over each other! We can’t hear you!
