Election Forecaster Blames Piers Morgan For Feisty Exchange, Melt Down On His Show: ‘You Should Have Stepped In’

Historian and election forecaster Allan Lichtman accused Piers Morgan of exploiting a feisty exchange between Lichtman and Cenk Uygur on his show for ratings when he should have “stepped in.”
On Piers Morgan Uncensored earlier this week, Uygur told Lichtman to drink “a tall glass of shut up juice” after his predictions proved to be wrong about the presidential election. Uygur, co-founder of The Young Turks, called Lichtman “deluded” as he tried to share his own point of view on the election. Lichtman, however, was incensed and accused Uygur of “blasphemy” and calling him “stupid.”
According to Lichtman on his Lichtman Live podcast on Thursday, it was Morgan’s “professional responsibility” to step in and protect him from the “personal attacks” as Uygur insulted his work:
I may be a little thin-skinned because I have had hate heaped on me constantly, right? Death threats, violent threats, antisemitism, people trying to breach the security of our family. I’ve been doxed, I’ve been swatted and it was absolutely reprehensible that I should be subject to this, on what should have been a rational panel discussion.
And, you know, I call out Piers Morgan. Piers, you should have been a responsible moderator. You should have stepped in right away and said there’s no place here for personal attacks, that’s not what we’re about.
Morgan’s show often involves multiple guests and debates can get heated as the one between Uygur and Lichtman did. While Uygur and Lichtman were going back and forth on his show, Morgan joked, “It’s great to see you Democrats all getting along so well.”
Lichtman accurately predicted nine of the last 10 elections. Lichtman claimed that he was wrong about the 2024 election because of “disinformation” and “xenophobia” and bigotry he accused Republicans of pushing.
Lichtman was still so unsatisfied with his appearance on the show that he called Morgan’s behavior “absolutely shameful.”
“You abdicated your professional responsibility, and you sat there and let those personal attacks, which added nothing to the discussion, go on. In fact, you exploited them to try to get ratings. Just absolutely shameful. It could not have been more disappointing,” he said. “But as I said, a lot of Cenk’s own followers called him a blowhard, a bully and he had nothing to add other than trying to tear me down with middle school insults.”
