‘Compromised’ Ford Motor Co. Feed Labels Israel ‘Terrorist State’ in Pro-Palestine Messages, Company Confirms: ‘We Are Investigating’
The official account for Ford Motor Company on X (formerly Twitter) went viral Monday after suffering what appeared to be an account hack after several posts went public on the subject of the Gaza war, including one calling Israel a “terrorist” state.
UPDATED: Ford confirmed to Mediaite that the company’s account was “briefly compromised” in a statement on Monday afternoon.
“Our X account was briefly compromised and the previous three posts were not authorized or posted by Ford. We are investigating the issue,” the company said.
That compromise consisted of three tweets posted within moments of one another that were swiftly removed from the feed, as news reports and dozens of screenshots showed. The company had also shared an ad for its F-Series trucks for its 1.4 million followers just before the incident, which remains posted online at this time.
As seen in multiple screenshots, including one shared by Democrat Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York, the three posts following that ad appeared to be the work of a hacker.
The tweets read, “Free Palestine,” “Israel is a terrorist state,” and “ALL EYES ON GAZA.”
“Ford Motor Company must have been hacked by the Free Palestine movement,” wrote Torres in his post.
The incident naturally went viral, with dozens of users sharing their own screenshots or reposting from others:
Ford told Mediaite, “Our X account was briefly compromised and the previous three posts were not authorized or posted by Ford. We are investigating the issue.”
There has been no comment from X on the matter.
As The Sun noted, Ford has business interests in Israel and some of its vehicles are being used by the Israeli Défense Forces in Gaza.
