‘Hard YES’: Democrat Fetterman Says He Will Confirm Trump Pick Stefanik And Support Her Gutting UNRWA
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) announced on Wednesday he will support President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
“Always was a hard YES for @EliseStefanik but it was a pleasure to have a conversation,” wrote Fetterman on X after meeting with Stefanik on Capitol Hill.
“I support defunding UNRWA for its documented Hamas infiltration and fully look forward to her holding the @UN accountable for its endemic antisemitism and blatant anti-Israel views,” added the staunchly pro-Israel Democrat.
Earlier in the day, Stefanik posted a thank you to Fetterman, writing, “Thank you to @SenFettermanPA for hosting a very productive meeting where we discussed our shared commitment to standing with Israel and combating antisemitism. Senator Fetterman shared his ideas for strong national security leadership and I highlighted my ideas on implementing President @realDonaldTrump’s America First peace through strength national security agenda.”
Fetterman has regularly rebuked his own party since joining Congress in 2023. On Tuesday, Fetterman joined both Trump’s Truth Social platform and another alternative to X, Bluesky. He wrote that in doing so he was “Meeting folks where they are.”
“My first truth… The Trump hush money and Hunter Biden cases were both bullshit, and pardons are appropriate. Weaponizing the judiciary for blatant, partisan gain diminishes the collective faith in our institutions and sows further division,” wrote Fetterman on Truth Social, again showing his bipartisan approach.
