Ilhan Omar Drops Explicit Reply to Badgering Pro-Israel Protesters Telling Her To ‘Go To Gaza, Sweetheart’

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) gave an explicit reply to pro-Israel protesters badgering her on Capitol Hill and demanding she “go to Gaza.”

On Wednesday afternoon footage surfaced via X, formerly Twitter, showing protesters confronting the Minnesota lawmaker over her outspoken criticism of Israel’s treatment of civilians in Gaza during its deadly military campaign against Hamas.

In the past, Omar has called for the Biden administration to cut U.S. military aid to Israel amid the country’s ground offensive in Gaza. She has also called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas amid the humanitarian and looming famine crisis gripping the Palestinians.

As Omar was preparing to enter an elevator with her staff on Capitol Hill, a group of protesters carrying Israeli flags confronted her and demanded she disavow Hamas. Israeli newspaper Ynet identified the protestors as belonging to US Betar, a pro-Israel activist movement that also tried to give beepers to Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

“Why do you stand with Hamas? Why don’t you condemn Hamas,” one protester shouted. “Do you like Hamas and Hezbollah?”

The congresswoman ignored the badgering until one male protester told her to “go to Gaza” while referring to Omar as “sweetheart.” She could be heard saying back “Fuck you!” before the elevator door closed.
