Biden Offers Nonsensical Musing About Getting Hit in the Head With a Camera When Asked About Hostage Deal
In response to a question about potentially reaching a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas on Tuesday, President Joe Biden fired back with a question of his own.
Biden hosted Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the White House on Tuesday. As the two presidents sat in the Oval Office, Israeli reporter Neria Kraus asked Biden about the potential for a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas in the near future.
“President Biden, do you think that you can get a hostage deal by the end of your term?” Kraus asked him.
Biden responded with some bizarre musing about a camera.
“Do you think you can keep from getting hit in the head by a camera behind you?” he answered.
After a brief moment of awkward silence in the Oval Office, he thanked the room and then addressed Herzog.
“Alright, thank you all,” he said. “Well, Mr. President, welcome back to the Oval Office and the White House. You’ve been a friend for a long time, a personal friend. And you know my commitment to Israel is ironclad and we share a deep friendship.”
Although Biden declined to give a straight answer about the hostage situation, he has been more direct in the past. Back in September, he explicitly stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t doing enough to reach a deal.
