Fox News Contributor Calls Brutally Violent Jan 6. Attack That Wounded 120 Police Officers ‘An Inconvenience’

Fox News contributor and NY Post columnist Miranda Devine dismissed the January 6 Capitol riot as “really just an inconvenience” that lasted a “few hours” — accusing commentators and Democrats of overblowing the event as one of “the worst terrorist attacks since Pearl Harbor, worse than 9/11.”

During the Capitol riots of January 6, 2021, supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

United States Capitol Police (USCP) officer Brian Sicknick, who collapsed from a stroke during the riots, died one day later. In the aftermath of the violence it emerged that over 100 police officers had been wounded, with one having had their eye gouged out. In the seven months that followed, four police officers who were on duty that day died by suicide.

Devine raised the riot while arguing against what she described as the “demonization” of Trump by the Harris-Walz campaign, as the debate over political rhetoric reignites following the foiled assassination attempt against the former president on Sunday.

Speaking to Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo, Devine gave her analysis:

These people have pulled out no stops, all stops, to portray January 6, 2021, the riot at the Capitol, as being the worst terrorist attacks since Pearl Harbor, worse than 9/11. This was completely ignoring the BLM Antifa violence that terrorized American citizens for months in 2020 and, you know, as opposed to what was really just an inconvenience for some members of Congress for a few hours at their workplace.

But they have not stopped and what [White House press secretary] Karine Jean-Pierre and all of those, that montage of talking heads you just played, what they show is that they are going to double down and in Orwellian fashion they are blaming the victim, Donald Trump, for instigated the violence that they have instigated.

“Absolutely it is incredible to me that they get away with this,” Bartiromo said.
