Pro-Trump Lawyer Arrested Following Dominion Voting Systems Defamation Hearing
A pro-Donald Trump attorney was taken into custody by authorities after a hearing related to leaked internal emails belonging to Dominion Voting Systems.
Attorney Stefanie Lambert had an existing warrant out for her arrest in her home state of Michigan, on charges related to her alleged attempt to seize Dominion machines. The systems have become the center of election fraud conspiracy theories touted by Trump supporters like Mike Lindell, but there is no proof of the widespread fraud critics describe. The company has sued for defamation a number of companies and people who pushed those claims, including Fox News.
Also being sued by Dominion is former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne. And while Lambert failed to appear at multiple hearings related to her own Michigan warrants, she did show up at a Washington D.C. court as an attorney for Byrne, where she was arrested.
Lambert is accused of leaking internal Dominion emails accessed through her connection to the Byrne case to a fellow election denier, Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf. CNN reported that Leaf has posted thousands of Dominion emails to social media.
After Monday’s hearing with Byrne, Lambert was asked to stay behind in the court and two U.S. Marshals took her into custody. The Marshals later confirmed Lambert’s arrest and said it was over “local charges,” referring to her Michigan legal woes.
Lambert’s access to Dominion files was limited during the Monday hearing and there will be a later hearing to determine if she violated the law by disseminating emails gained through the discovery process. Dominion asked that she be removed from the case.
“It has been nearly four years,” Dominion lawyer Davida Brook said about Lambert at Monday’s hearing. “When does it stop?”
