Former ICE Director Rips ‘Embarrassment’ AOC: ‘A Thank You Would Be Nice Rather Than Misinformation’
Former Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan is a frequent contributor to Fox News programming, particularly when the topic turns to illegal immigration and border security. On Wednesday morning he appeared on Fox & Friends and pushed back on comments made by newly sworn-in Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that were remarkably critical of the agency of which he had served as Acting Director.
Ocasio-Cortez appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show after President Donald Trump’s Oval Office national address regarding the current government shutdown and border wall funding.
The New York Representative lit into this administration’s border policy saying “The one thing the president has not talked about is the fact he has systematically engaged in the violation of… human rights on our border,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “He has separated children from their families.”
She rebutted Trump’s tales of immigrant crime by noting that “on the day of Christmas, a child died in ICE custody,” referencing the second of two children who died while in custody last month.
“The president should not be asking for more money to an agency that has systematically violated human rights,” she added. “The president should be really defending why we are funding such an agency at all, because right now, what we are seeing is death. Right now what we are seeing is the violation of human rights.”
Fox & Friends producers introduced the segment by airing a clip before asking Mr. Homan to respond, and respond he did.
“You know, it’s I mean every time she opens her mouth she is wrong,” he said. “Supposedly she went to college in Boston. She must be an embarrassment to that institution.”
He clarified AOC’s comment saying “no child tied in ice custody it was border patrol. They did everything they could do to save that child’s life. You want to blame somebody tore death and custody. Blame the Democrats that caused these loopholes.”
He went on to praise the work that his former department has accomplished, “When you talk about human rights violations does she realize ice has arrested and removed hundreds of human rights violators in this country including Nazis and people that commit war crimes in certain parts of Europe? We actually arrest a lot of human rights violators.”
“She ought to be saying thank she is from New York. Ice agents have arrested and removed thousands of criminals from the streets of New York that were released from jails that she supports. So, a thank you would be nice rather than misinformation that she always puts out,” he concluded.
