Fox News’ Bill Melugin Pours Cold Water Over Biden’s New Border Order: Still ‘Bringing in Tens of Thousands of Migrants’ A Month
Fox News’ Bill Melugin poured cold water over President Joe Biden’s new attempt at addressing the crisis at the southern border on Tuesday, arguing that Biden still intended to bring “tens of thousands of migrants” into the country every month.
After playing a clip of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) criticizing Biden for not taking action earlier and describing Biden’s executive order now as “window dressing,” Sandra Smith asked Melugin for his thoughts.
“I mean, think about how many years we’ve been down here doing live shots, showing these massive lines of people waiting, almost like they’re in line at Disneyland just to get processed by Border Patrol, smiling, waving to our cameras, thumbs up, no fear of deportation year after year after year. And we kept hearing from the White House year after year: ‘There’s no crisis at the border. It’s not an issue,'” began Melugin.
“Then we fast forward to this year,” he continued. “You just heard the speaker there say, after the border bill failed, President Biden said repeatedly, ‘I’ve done all I can do on the border. It’s up to Congress to fix it.’ Well, suddenly now, five months before an election, he’s decided that, ‘well, there is something I can do executively.’ And he’s decided to take this action, and it makes you wonder, why didn’t it happen last year?”
Then he expressed disillusionment with the substance of the order itself.
“But you have to focus on the true details here. Yes, he is going to limit and restrict asylum to some people who crossed the border illegally in between ports of entry, but he’s going to continue bringing in tens of thousands of migrants per month using this CBP One app and flying them into the country via these parole flights,” asserted Melugin. “So the illegal crossing numbers may go down a little bit. But he’s bringing more people into the country through quote unquote, ‘lawful pathways,’ which are just programs he’s created at the executive level, guys.”
