NEW: Trump Names Former ICE Director Tom Homan His New Border Czar: ‘In Charge of All Deportation of Illegal Aliens’

President-elect Donald Trump announced on social media late Sunday night that acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and current Fox News contributor Tom Homan is his pick to serve as his new “border czar” when he takes office.
“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social app just before midnight on Sunday.
He went on to specify that Homan will be in charge of Trump’s promised mass deportations.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders,” he said. “Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin.”
“Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, jo,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post.
The AP noted that Homan, in Fox News appearance on Sunday, spoke about the administration’s plan regarding deportation.
In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Homan said the military would not be rounding up and arresting immigrants in the country illegally and that ICE would move to implement Trump’s plans in a “humane manner.”
