Scott Galloway Rips X CEO After Elon’s Latest Fake News Post: ‘A Circus Clown Following Around an Elephant Scooping Up His Sh*t’
Pivot podcast host Scott Galloway blasted X CEO Linda Yaccarino as a “circus clown following around an elephant scooping up its shit” after the platform’s billionaire owner Elon Musk violated the company’s own guidelines to post a deepfake of Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday.
The deepfake video purported to show Harris, the Democratic presumptive nominee, raising concerns about how artificial intelligence might mislead voters in the run up to Election Day about three months away. Critics protested Musk’s false portrayal of the lawmaker as illegal, leading to a curt exchange between the billionaire businessman and California Governor Gavin Newsom. Yaccarino is yet to comment on the incident which has raised sparked commentary on her role.
Speaking on the Pivot podcast, Galloway’s co-host Kara Swisher delivered the scathing take that Yaccarino was just a “ridiculous figure” and “side note” to Musk. Swisher said the CEO was not “running a company” but being used as a “political cudgel.”
“She’s a circus clown following around an elephant scooping up his shit,” Galloway added. “She’s basically the most overpaid apologist in history other than someone being in the Trump cabinet.”
Swisher responded: “If you’re explaining yourself you’re fucked.”
Galloway continued: “Linda Yaccarino is literally moving from irrelevant to less relevant and it makes her a fun story and click bait. She has almost no influence at that company, she doesn’t make any decisions, has no control over her boss, she is pushing a rock up a hill trying to call advertisers who, to my understanding, love her and have had a wonderful experience with her professionally. [But they’re] saying ‘Linda, I love you but there’s no fucking way we’re pulling up a seat to, as you call it [Swisher], the nazi porn bar.”
Swisher concluded: “I mean this is not a business. I don’t know what she’s doing there. I mean, I don’t care for her but it’s embarrassing – an embarrassing way to spend your life. If you’re a real ad person, which you used to be, get a job at a real company, as difficult as it may be, at NBC or Warner… you’re just a ridiculous figure at this point.”
