LA Lakers Coach JJ Redick Sends Blunt Message to Critics Upset With Him Getting the Job: ‘I Don’t Give a F*ck’

New Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick made it clear at his introductory press conference Monday that he doesn’t care how critics feel about his unorthodox hiring.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski announced last week that the Lakers and Redick had agreed on a four-year deal to make him the franchise’s 29th head coach. He steps into the role with no prior coaching experience in the NBA.

Because of that lack of experience, many have questioned the Lakers’ decision. When asked if he feels compelled to prove the critics wrong, Redick explained why he couldn’t really care less.

“It’s a valid question, and I’ve certainly heard everything,” Redick said. “It’s been a really interesting six weeks or so, just in terms of being part of the engagement farming industry. It’s been really interesting; however, I don’t really have a great answer for your question because I really don’t give a fuck.

“I want to coach the Lakers. I want to coach the team. I don’t want to dispel anything. I don’t. I want to become a great coach in the NBA and I want to win championships; and I want my players to maximize their careers. That’s all I fucking care about.”
