JJ Redick Torches Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Over Recent Comments: ‘There’s Never Accountability With That Guy!’
JJ Redick hit the ground running in his return to First Take on Tuesday when he called out Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers.
Early in the show, a clip was played of Rivers discussing the team’s recent struggles. After the surprise firing of coach Adrian Griffin, Rivers took over and the results have left a lot to be desired. The team was 3-7 in Rivers’ first 10 games as their coach, with their last loss before the All-Star break being against the depleted Memphis Grizzlies.
In response to the struggles, Rivers chalked it up to growing pains as the team continues to adjust to the regime change.
Redick, who played for Rivers on the Los Angeles Clippers, had enough.
“Side note real quick: no one’s gonna react to Doc’s audio there?” Redick said to his colleagues. “It’s been seven minutes since we’ve shown that audio. No one’s gonna react to Doc’s audio?
“We don’t need to repeat it. I’ve seen the trend now! I’ve seen the trend for years! The trend is always making excuses. Doc, we get it. Taking over a team in the middle of the season is hard. It’s hard. We get it — just like getting traded in the middle of the season is hard for a player. We get it — but it’s always an excuse. It’s always throwing your team under the bus. They lose to Memphis. Oh, it’s his players’ fault. Memphis was playing G League guys and two-way guys!”
Redick also took issue with Rivers’ comments on James Harden’s trade from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Los Angeles Clippers. Rivers, who coached Harden and the 76ers last season before being fired, claimed the Clippers reached out him to ask about Harden. He told them Harden would be a better fit for the Clippers than he was for the Sixers — and that seems to have been the case given the Clippers’ recent success.

“I was one of the guys who said it would be a great deal for them. I thought he fit them better than he would fit the Sixers team. I think he’s a perfect fit there.”https://t.co/pju2O5udIt

“Now he wants to take credit for the James Harden trade to the Clippers working out?” Redick said. “He wants credit for that? There’s never accountability with that guy! There’s never accountability.”
