Joe Scarborough Floored When His Wife Mika Brzezinski Informs Him Butter Costs $7: ‘What?! Is it Framed in Gold?!’

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough was left floored when his wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski informed him that butter costs $7 as he mused on how inflation had reportedly prompted New Yorkers to vote Republican in the presidential election.

Scarborough was musing as to why President-elect Donald Trump was growing his vote share in New York. Although he lost New York, Trump’s 2024 vote count is reportedly the highest for any GOP presidential candidate since 1996, with voters blaming the cost of living as a major reason they are choosing him.

The host began with a personal anecdote: “I want to talk about the economy for a second. Few weeks ago, three weeks ago, somebody who was going to be voting for Kamala Harris came up to me and said, ‘Oh, my god, Trump is going to win.’ I go, ‘why is that?’ He goes, ‘I just went to the grocery store. Butter is over $3.’ I kind of laughed and said, I said, ‘Well, that’s kind of productive, isn’t it?’ I smiled at him and said, good point. But actually, everything we’re hearing after the election is…”

Brzezinski interrupted: “It’s $7. Just saying…”

“What’s that?” Scarborough asked.

“$7,” she repeated.

Scarborough was stunned: “What’s that? Butter is $7?”

“Yeah,” she confirmed.

“What? Is it framed in gold?” he asked.

“Depends where you go. 7 bucks,” she repeated.

“Okay, well yeah,” Scarborough tried to continue. “Anyway, my point is this, the rent is too damn high, and this guy was saying, the cost of butter is way damn too high.”
