MSNBC’s Symone Sanders, Michael Steele Revel In MAGA ‘Civil War’ Centered On Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy: ‘The Girls Are Fighting!’
MSNBC’s Symone Sanders-Townsend and Michael Steele shared some laughs over MAGA in fighting centered on Elon Musk and his immigration views and criticisms of American workers.
On Saturday’s The Weekend, Sanders-Townsend, Steele, and Alicia Melendez covered a “civil war” brewing in MAGA world as Musk has earned the contempt of fellow loyal supporters of President-elect Donald Trump like Steve Bannon and Laura Loomer.
Both Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have earned the ire of a number of conservatives over their defenses of the use of H-1B visas to bring high-skilled workers from foreign countries to work in the United States, specifically in tech jobs. Musk and Ramaswamy have also earned the ire of conservatives over their criticism of American workers. Musk endorsed a post calling American workers too “retarded” for some high-skilled jobs, while Ramaswamy argued in a lengthy post that “mediocrity” has been celebrated for too long in the country.
Musk has promised to go to “war” on his stance on the use of visas, while Bannon has referred to him as a “toddler” and questioned the influence of tech leaders like him on Trump’s immigration policies.
“Honey, the girls are fighting! The girls are fiiighting!” Sanders-Townsend said on Saturday in reaction to the all the in-fighting.
“Oh, this is fun! This is fun!” Steele added, later saying he was “tickled” by the whole situation.
Sanders-Townsend argued that Musk is directly attacking the working class base that makes up Trump’s core supporters and she urged them to “stand up” to Musk, calling his criticism of American workers “insane.”

SYMONE SANDERS-TOWNSEND: “Honey, the girls are fighting! The girls are fiiighting!”
MICHAEL STEELE: “Oh, this is fun! This is fun! So, let me get this straight, Vivek Ramaswamy, he just didn’t write a tweet, he wrote a —”
ALICIA MENENDEZ: “Screed. It was a screed.”
STEELE: “I mean it just went on and he laid out basically, y’all white folks out here should have been focused on doing a little bit more Urkel than anything else.”
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: “Less Stefon.”
STEELE: “Less Stefon. And, you know, Symone, I’m tickled, I’m tickled by this. Who would have saw this coming?”
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: “Well, I mean definitely not the folks that voted for Donald Trump and certainly American workers. Look, this is — my mother told me there is just some business that don’t involve you, you don’t need to step in it, so I have just been watching because this is what happens. To be very clear, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, weren’t they foreign born workers?” [note: Sanders later corrected herself and voted that Ramaswamy was born in the United States. He was born in Ohio.]
STEELE: “Uh, yeah! They got here on a visa.” [note: Again, Ramaswamy was born in the United States]
SANDERS-TOWNSEND: “Elon Musk says he’s here because of one of them visas. And now I believe he’s an actual American citizen. But let’s be very clear, there is nothing wrong with people who are not from this country coming here, making a better life, contributing to the American fabric, okay? That’s something I fundamentally believe in. America is the land of the free, home of the brave, all that good stuff that Elon Musk was tweeting about. However, please don’t come for Americans. And I would like, let’s be very clear, I would like white Americans to stand up. This is your calling card, honey, when is your banner because they’re coming for you! They say white and lazy. That’s crazy! That’s crazy! And if I said it, you would be coming for me! I would never say it because that’s insane!”
