Fox’s Jessica Tarlov Tells Bill Maher ‘As A Jew’ Who Believes In ‘Not Committing Genocide’ Gen-Z’s Hamas Support Heart-Wrenching
Fox News host Jessica Tarlov told comic and pundit Bill Maher that “as a Jew” who believes in “not committing genocide,” it’s “heart-wrenching” to see Gen-Z Democrats express support for Palestinian “martyrs”
On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the comic’s panel guests were Fox News host Jessica Tarlov and podcaster Scott Galloway, and his interview guests were former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and former Cuomo chief lieutenant Melissa DeRosa, author of the new book “What’s Left Unsaid: My Life at the Center of Power, Politics & Crisis.”
Maher brought up the GWU students who projected messages like “glory to Our Martyrs” on the side of a library building, and Tarlov said such reactions are deeply hurtful to her:
BILL MAHER: The kids, there’s a banner I don’t know if we have a picture of it. I think it was at George Washington University and said, glory to the martyrs, to our martyrs and free Palestine. That is there it is. Glory to our martyrs. They put it on the air in America. These are our martyrs, you know, free Palestine from the river to the sea, which means Israel does not exist anymore. You know, I keep saying I don’t think they understand the history. They just have this view that whoever is poorer and browner must be right and whoever is richer and whiter must be wrong. What are your thoughts on this horrible situation?
JESSICA TARLOV: It’s, I’ve been talking about it for two and a half weeks since it happened. It has been nice to have a moment of political unity. At least I’m not a gen-z Democrat. So as an elder millennial, I sound more conservative these days and it’s been hilarious. My Jewish liberal friends will text me and they’ll say, “Oh, this is where you go in the afternoon?” because they never watched Fox before. And suddenly and I’m like, That’s why my hair and makeup always looks so good.
But it’s completely heart-wrenching as a, as a Jew and just as someone who believes in democracy and not committing genocide. And I don’t know why more Palestinians, I said this about Rashida Tlaib, for instance, who obviously just has a completely separate agenda on this, doesn’t take the opportunity for an educational moment about the difference between the Palestinian people and a terrorist organization.
BILL MAHER: I remember when, when the woke assholes took over the word violence and things that weren’t violent or, like words. That’s it. It’s not violence. Like words in a script, that isn’t violence. It could possibly incite violence. But you could say that about a lot of things.
Now they’ve done it with this word genocide. It has a very specific meaning, and they just throw it around willy nilly. It’s, you know, homicide to kill your fellow man, fratricide to kill your brother. Patricide, suicide. These all have very specific meanings on who we’re killing. That’s the “cide” part of it. Genocide means you’re trying to kill the entire race of people. Israel has never. If they wanted to, they could. They’re not doing that. So this word genocide, it’s got to stop.
