Donald Trump Jr. told Newsmax on Tuesday that the reception to his trip to Greenland was “100% positive” and that annexing the Danish territory would be “a total no-brainer,” as his father, President-elect Donald Trump, continues to express interest in acquiring the island.

After Newsmax host Rob Finnerty asked Trump Jr. whether the native Greenlanders he met were “interested in the idea” of “being liberated from Denmark,” Trump Jr. replied, “100%. I mean, honestly, I didn’t see a single negative. I mean, we had crowds waving as we were landing.”

He continued:

Literally 100% positive for what I was able to see and experience, and again, these are people that feel they’ve been exploited, they have not been treated well by Denmark, they are prevented from utilizing the great natural resources that they have, whether that’s coal, whether that’s uranium, whether that’s other rare minerals, whether that’s gold and diamonds. It’s really an incredible place, and these people are saying, “We just want a better future for ourselves and Denmark doesn’t allow us to do anything, and beyond that, when we travel to Denmark, we’re treated as second and third-class citizens.” It was really amazing. It was a very eye-opening experience. The reception could not have been warmer, Rob. It was great.

Trump Jr. concluded, “

You know, I think there’s definitely a path for my father and his administration to do something there that benefits both the people of Greenland as well as the people of the United States. Both from a trade and commerce standpoint, from a military and strategic location, it actually seems like a total no-brainer.”

Trump Jr. and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk arrived in Greenland this week aboard Trump Force One, where they were greeted by supporters in red “Make America Great Again” hats.

“Greenland loves America and Trump!!!” wrote Trump Jr. in a social media post during his trip. “Incredible people with an equally awesome reception. They just want to be able to utilize some of the incredible resources that they have and allow themselves, their country, and their kids to flourish.”

On Tuesday, President-elect Trump urged Denmark to “give up” Greenland before suggesting that the Danish may not even have any legal right to the territory.

“We need Greenland for national security purposes,” he told reporters. “People really don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it.”

Trump continued, “They should give it up because we need it for national security… And if Denmark wants to get to a conclusion but nobody knows if they even have any right, title, or interest, the people are going to probably vote for independence or to come into

the United States. But if they did, if they did do that, then I would tariff Denmark at a very high level.”
