Peruvian Cop Dressed as The Grinch Leads Bust of Suspected Drug Gang

CNN News Central aired a crime story with a Christmas twist Tuesday, showing a video clip of a police officer in Lima, Peru who donned a Grinch costume to lead a drug bust.

Anchor Kate Bolduan reported on the story with evident glee in her voice.

“A Peruvian police officer got into the Christmas spirit, or maybe better said, utilized the Christmas spirit to fight crime, dressing up as The Grinch to lead a drug bust. Here is the scene.”

“Oh my God,” Bolduan chuckled as the cop, wearing a green furry costume along with a Santa suit was shown running up stairs with a sledgehammer in hand (or paw?) to bust through a door. “Not seen in the movies!”

The festive costume allowed the police officer “to go unnoticed while mingling in a neighborhood for a Christmas event,” Bolduan continued. “And then led to this — a true life drug bust. The Grinch taking a sledgehammer to a door and handcuffing several suspects. Hard to do with those furry paws, but he did it!”

Three suspects were arrested as part of the operation, Bolduan reported, and multiple types of drugs were seized.

“And get this, guys,” she said, “this is not the first time Peruvian police have used costumes when conducting raids during the holiday season. In 2020, officers dressed as Santa Claus and an elf and arrested four people in another drug raid. People are going to be really suspect of people in costumes around the holiday season in Peru from now on — but still, good job.”

“Whoa! Look at those drugs!” Bolduan said before moving to the next story.
