‘Battling Cancer Ain’t For Suckers!’ CNN’s Sara Sidner Shares Her Final Breast Cancer Treatment In Emotional Interview
CNN’s Sara Sidner broke the news about her own Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in January — and now, she marked the end of her cancer treatment.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sidner told Kevin Frazier about the last leg of her fight against the disease, which entailed a double mastectomy, 16 rounds of chemotherapy, and 25 rounds of radiation. The show accompanied Sidner to her final radiation treatment and was there when she rang the bell.
Sidner told Frazier: “Battling cancer ain’t for suckers!” She added:
Halfway through chemo, I was just tired. And frustrated. And then I’ve got two surgeries and radiation? Like, no! I don’t wanna do this!
She did though, and while Sidner has not yet shared whether or not she is officially cancer-free, Frazier told her: “I look at you as this superhero who can go anywhere at any time and do anything.” He then asked Sidner for what others should know about their own health. She said:
If you notice any change in your breasts, anything, and you’re worried about it, don’t listen to yourself saying, “Oh, it’s probably nothing.” Because I did that. “It’s probably nothing.” Go to your doctor. Ask for a mammogram.
Sidner also revealed the most valuable thing she learned in ten months of treatment: “Enjoy this moment, because it’s not coming back. You’ve got one.”
