Trump Inexplicably Claims Hezbollah Took Part in Jan. 6 Riot When Asked If He Plans to Pardon Even ‘Violent’ Rioters
President-elect Donald Trump said he would consider pardoning even “violent” January 6 protestors during a stream-of-consciousness press conference Tuesday morning at Mar-a-Lago. He went on to curiously suggest that members of the Lebanese group Hezbollah participated in the riots four years ago.
During the questions portion of the presser, a reporter noted that Trump had said in the past that on his first day of office he intends to pardon January 6th defendants. “Are you planning to pardon those who were charged with violent offenses?” the reporter asked.
“We’re looking at it and other people are there, and 26, 28 people from the FBI came out very quietly, and nobody reported it,” Trump replied. “But they had people in some form related to the FBI. They had 4 or 5 people strongly related to the FBI. We have to find out about that.”
“We have to find out about Hezbollah,” he continued. “We have to find out about who exactly was in that whole thing because people that did some bad things were not prosecuted.”
“You know, I see it all the time. And you see it, too. People that were doing some bad things weren’t prosecuted and people that didn’t even walk into the building are in jail right now,” he said. “So we’ll be looking at the whole thing. But I’ll be making major pardons, yes.”
Later in the press conference he was pressed again about pardoning anyone who attacked a police officer, given that 140 officers were wounded in the attack. One died the day after, and four more died by suicide in the year that followed.
“Well, you know, the only one killed was a beautiful young lady named Ashley Babbitt, she was killed and there was somebody else killed, also a MAGA person. But people don’t give it 100% credibility. I’m going to find out about it. We’re going to find out. But Ashley Babbitt was killed. She was shot. Should never have been shot. She was shot for no reason whatsoever. In fact, they say that she was trying to hold back the crowd and the crowd was made up of a lot of different people. So we’ll see.”
