John Fetterman Trolls Matt Gaetz for Dropping Out as Trump’s AG Nominee: ‘Holy Shit, I Didn’t See That Coming!’
U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) roasted Matt Gaetz on Thursday, shortly after Gaetz announced he dropped out of the running to be attorney general.
Ever since President-elect Donald Trump stunned the nation by nominating Gaetz, the media frenzy surrounding the embattled former U.S. representative has been relentless. The heat on him only intensified when new reporting revealed additional details on sexual misconduct allegations against him. He was already accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old, and CNN said Thursday that Gaetz dropped out after the network reached out to inform him it was going to report on the House Ethics Committee’s findings of a second sexual encounter with a 17-year-old.
When asked about the news on Capitol Hill, Fetterman expressed sarcastic shock.
“Holy shit, I didn’t see that coming!” Fetterman said. “I mean, yes, he was the ultimate troll; and people have the opportunity — they can freak out over things and respond — and if you wanna do that, don’t have to — you better pace yourself though because it’s not even Thanksgiving and we don’t have to react and take unserious things so seriously, that the world’s gonna spin off its axis the way it is.”
He then lumped Trump into it with a joke about the president-elect finding a way to profit off of Gaetz’s withdrawal.
“But I just heard something,” Fetterman said. “I heard that Trump is going to issue a new silver dollar to commemorate that. So, I think that’s going to be the next cycle.”
