‘God-Tier Trolling!’ John Fetterman Lambasts Trump’s Matt Gaetz Attorney General Nomination

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) lambasted President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to nominate former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) his Attorney General as a “God-tier kind of trolling” of Democrats and Republicans alike.

Before his nomination, Gaetz was subject to a House Ethics Committee investigation over allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use. On news of his promotion on Wednesday, Gaetz resigned “effective immediately” – just days before the committee was reportedly set to issue its findings. With his resignation, however, the probe will now be dropped.

Gaetz may also face an uphill battle during his confirmation process. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) has already said she opposes the nomination.

Speaking with reporters on Capitol Hill, Fetterman mused: “I mean, I would describe it as God-tier level trolling to just trigger a full-on China syndrome to own the libs in perpetuity.”

She continued: “But, really, the Dems’ opinions on Gaetz, that’s not really what’s interesting. The good ones are going to come by my colleagues on the other side, the GOP, on how they can justify voting for that jack-off.”

Fetterman went on to contrast Gaetz’s nomination with Trump’s other recent picks, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for Secretary of State and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as U.N. Ambassador, calling them “serious” choices.

“[Eric Schmitt] would have been a solid pick,” Fetterman said, referring to the Missouri senator who previously served as his state’s attorney general. “And then you put out someone like that. That’s just nothing but trolling.”
