Democratic Party Megadonor Says He’s Not Sure If Trump Is ‘Stable’ But Calls Him a ‘F*cking Genius’

John Morgan, who has spent years donating to the Democratic Party, told Politico on Sunday that he was not sure about the stability of President-elect Donald Trump but concluded he was a “fucking genius” for winning the 2024 election.
Morgan has donated to state Democrats, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and ballot initiatives in his home state of Florida.
With Democrats in disarray after last month’s election, Morgan – who left the party in recent years but still supports Democratic Party candidates and causes – sat down with Politico to discuss Trump’s win in a story about whether Democrats were viewed as “toxic.” The outlet noted:
John Morgan, the Florida-based Biden fundraiser considering a gubernatorial run, said he may launch a bid under a new party called the “Capitalist Party.” Morgan changed his registration from Democratic to independent a few years ago because he objected to the party’s left flank and how some describe themselves as “Democratic socialists.”
Morgan, who bankrolled an amendment in Florida to raise the minimum wage, said he would campaign as a “compassionate capitalist.” And Florida, he said, could be where a new third party germinates.
As for Trump, who notoriously referred to himself as a “stable genius” during his first term in office, Morgan complemented his political acumen and intellect.
“I don’t know if Trump is a stable genius, but he’s a fucking genius,” Morgan told Politico. “He tapped into something the Republicans never saw, which was anger and populism on that side.”
According to Open Secrets, the attorney’s law firm Morgan & Morgan has given Democrats and Democratic Party candidates – including Vice President Kamala Harris – hundreds of thousands of dollars in recent years.
Morgan made headlines last month when he said Harris should be “disqualified forever” from running for office.
The attorney and donor told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo Harris and Democrats mismanaged $1.5 billion en route to losing November’s election.
“Remember the movie Mad Max when the everybody just doing whatever they wanted, end of the world?” he told Cuomo. “That’s what happened here. All of a sudden, everybody’s got the keys to the candy store, ad buyers, talent, consultants. There’s 100 days to do it, and the money started pouring in, pouring in. Remember this, Chris, it wasn’t pouring in for Harris. It was pouring in against Trump. Everybody that was voting and supporting Harris was really voting against Trump.”
