Twitter Blasts Salon, HuffPost For Prior Mockery of Otto Warmbier: ‘Disgusting’
In the wake of Otto Warmbier‘s death earlier today, a lot people on Twitter are raging against liberal news sites and media figures who once blamed the American student for his own predicament.
Warmbier was arrested by the North Koreans almost 18 months ago, and accused of stealing a propaganda poster from the hotel where he was staying. Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor and was comatose for about a year before he was returned to his family last week.
As people take in the tragic news, there are several articles and news pieces from 2016, shortly after Warmbier was arrested, now coming back to haunt media entities. Here are a few:
Huffington Post: North Korea Proves Your White Male Privilege Is Not Universal
The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore: Straight Outta Pyongyang – Frat Boy Arrested in North Korea
Needless to say, there are many livid at those casually stating that Warmbier was somehow responsible for the suffering he would eventually experience at the hands of Kim Jong-un‘s despotic regime.
