CNN’s Kasie Hunt Compares Kamala Harris Stumping with Obama, Springsteen to Hillary Clinton Campaign: ‘We All Know How It Turned Out’
CNN’s Kasie Hunt declared the “echo” of Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 presidential campaign is “unmistakable” in Vice President Kamala Harris’s celebrity-filled final days election push.
On Friday’s CNN This Morning, Hunt noted that a Thursday Atlanta rally featuring Bruce Springsteen performing felt “a little familiar.” She then cut to footage of Springsteen singing at a rally in the final days of the 2016 campaign to support Clinton.
“With 11 days to go, I got to tell you, to this reporter, it feels a little familiar because I remember these scenes from 2016 when Hillary Clinton rallied in Philadelphia with Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen. That event was basically a victory rally that was held before all the votes were cast and we all know how it turned out,” Hunt said.
Also present at the Atlanta rally for Harris were Obama, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, and Samuel L. Jackson. She is next reportedly set to appear in Houston with Beyoncé.
Hunt argued the political rhetoric has been turned up on both sides since 2016, airing a clip of former President Donald Trump referring the United States as a “garbage can” for the world and a clip of Clinton on CNN this week warning about a second Trump administration.
“I tried to sound the alarm about him back in 2016 but it was really an uphill climb,” she told Kaitlan Collins on Thursday, going on to call Trump’s appeal today “absolutely bonkers.”
The former secretary of state called Trump “more unhinged, more unstable” today compared to when she ran against him.
“Now in 2024, despite all of that, the race is tied and the echo is unmistakable,” Hunt said.
