‘Apparently Michael Bublé Was Unavailable’: Bill Maher ROASTS Dems Using Walz to Try Reaching Black Men As Campaign ‘Not Looking That Great’
HBO’s Bill Maher skewered Democrats for enlisting Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz to reach Black male voters on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday night’s edition of Real Time.
The host noted Harris is underwater with men of color while pointing out that Walz – a White governor from the Midwest – might not be the best ambassador to reach those who are apprehensive about casting a ballot for a candidate who could become the first Black woman president. Harris’s inability to connect with Black men is apparently so serious that former President Barack Obama hit the campaign trail this week to reach them on her behalf.
NPR noted Thursday:
Obama made a surprise stop at a Pittsburgh campaign field office ahead of a rally in the city — where his party has been working hard to make gains in a race where polls show a razor-thin race between Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Recent polls show Trump has made inroads with Black male voters. Obama, the first Black president, said he wanted to “speak some truths” about that.
Maher further made a note of the issue Friday when he skewered the Harris campaign for also enlisting Walz to reach Black men during his monologue. Maher said:
Fuck, it’s 25 days before the election and I gotta say, it’s not looking that great for the Democrats. I mean, this is not a good sign, you know. When you have an African American candidate, you probably shouldn’t be having to shore up your support among Black men, but that’s what’s going on. Tim Walz is headlining a voter engagement event tonight with Black men. Who better to connect with young black men than Tim Walz? Because, apparently, Michael Bublé was unavailable.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian is like, “Hello?” No, Obama even came out yesterday to scold. I mean, he was scolding. Last month at the convention, he was no scolding. Now he’s scolding. He was saying, “You’ve got to vote for Harris.” But of course, for some young, especially the younger Black men, it’s a tough choice. Harris is African American but Trump has a sneaker line.
