CNN’s Scott Jennings Accuses Dems of Crying Wolf on Trump and Hitler: ‘They Did it to John McCain… Mitt Romney… Paul Ryan’

CNN’s Scott Jennings argued that Democrats had cried wolf on referring to top Republicans as Hitler so many times that the public had no appetite for a Tuesday report former President Donald Trump had previously praised the dictator in private.

Retired Gen. John Kelly, Trump’s one-time White House chief of staff, told The New York Times on Tuesday that the 2024 GOP nominee once told him Hitler “did some good things.”

Kelly’s remarks drove much of the news cycle into Wednesday, and when they reached CNN’s OutFront, Jennings told host Erin Burnett that linking Republicans to fascism had lost its bite.

The GOP strategist concluded he had grown “callus” on being linked to Nazism as similar accusations had been thrown at his former boss George W. Bush. Jennings said:

Now I’m callus on this Hitler business because I lived through the Bush years and I used to peer out my window onto Pennsylvania Avenue and I saw everybody marching around in their brown uniforms, signs up, Bush is Hitler! Bush is Hitler! And then they did it to John McCain. They did it to Mitt Romney. They’ve done it to Donald Trump, they even did it to Paul Ryan, I recall at one point. So, I’ve heard it all before.

Jennings then doubled down on comments he made Tuesday that drew scorn from his network colleague Jim Sciutto. Jennings equated pro-Palestinian protestors to Nazis.

“I think the reason Democrats are freaking out about it right now is because what they have learned is that it’s not Republicans who are the Hitler’s or the Nazis. It’s actually emanating from within their own party. If you want to find Hitler-ish, Nazi-esque, anti-semitic tendencies, look on the left, not the right.”
