‘Tech Is Coming to Trump’: Maggie Haberman Dishes on Zuckerberg’s Surprising Mar-a-Lago Visit

New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman highlighted that Tech titans are aligning with President-elect Donald Trump in a way that marks a dramatic shift from their once-contentious stance, with Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg visiting Mar-a-Lago as a case in point.

Speaking to CNN host John Berman, Haberman noted Zuckerberg’s striking efforts to rebuild ties with the president-elect, despite years of public clashes over Meta’s treatment of conservatives: “We’re seeing a lot of people in tech coming to Trump, not the other way around,” she noted,

“So we’re still learning about it, John,” Haberman explained.

She continued: “Zuckerberg showed up in Florida with some of his advisers. It’s not clear whether Zuckerberg saw this meeting as significant or Trump saw this meeting, but one person described it as Trump essentially saying, ‘Hey, why don’t you come over to Mar-a-Lago?’”

“Zuckerberg once upon a time was a funder of an immigration advocacy group,” Haberman pointed out. “Stephen Miller is Trump’s most powerful advisor, and also the person who largely drives or shares with Trump his hardline immigration agenda.”

Zuckerberg’s outreach comes after years of public tension. Trump has repeatedly accused Meta’s platforms of censoring conservatives and even called for Zuckerberg’s imprisonment during his 2020 election rhetoric. Yet, in recent months, the Meta chief has softened his tone, even expressing admiration for Trump’s resilience after surviving an assassination attempt earlier this year. Zuckerberg reportedly told Trump he looked like a “badass” for his defiant response to the attack.

Haberman noted the broader implications: “We are seeing, as with a number of industries, but certainly the tech industry, a lot of people coming to Trump and not the other way around.”

Miller added fuel to the narrative, telling Fox News: “Zuckerberg has been very clear about his desire to be a supporter of, and a participant in, this change we’re seeing all around America and the world, with this reform movement that Donald Trump is leading.”
