‘I SO Respect This!’ Fox & Friends’ Lawrence Jones Praises Senator Mullin for Challenging Union Boss to a Fight

Fox News’ Lawrence Jones was amused by Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) nearly starting a fist-fight in the middle of a Senate hearing.

Wednesday on Fox & Friends, Jones reacted to the mayhem that ensued when Mullin confronted Teamsters President Sean O’Brien during a Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing. Mullin and O’Brien have been at war on social media for months, but their feud came to a boil when the senator challenged O’Brien to a throwdown, just for Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders to step in and put an end to it.

After Steve Doocy surprised himself in calling Sanders “the voice of reason” from the encounter, Brian Kilmeade commented “It probably would have been ugly. But I guess it does get aggravating when someone’s tweeting at you personally… and challenging you to a fight. And he comes over here and he’s acting like a tough guy.”

While the hearing never actually got physical, O’Brien and Mullin continued to exchange harsh words for each other, which lead to the latter suggesting they should have a real fight for charity. As Doocy noted that O’Brien declined the offer in favor of meeting Mullin over coffee, Jones exclaimed “Of course! Of course!”

Jones was similarly enthused when Fox aired a clip of Mullin speaking with Sean Hannity about the brouhaha, where the senator said “you aren’t going to run your mouth at me and expect me to just set there.”

“I so respect this!” Jones said. “It’s a thing in the South is — people, we have our positions. He’s a senator, we’re TV anchors, but I’m a Texan first.”

“You can’t let someone bully you,” Ainsley Earhardt added, which Jones called “exactly right.”

The panel was also amused when Kilmeade commented “There’s profiles on Twitter that you can check out before you challenge somebody. If it says MMA fighter and you’re not, you might want to think twice.” He followed up by noting that Mullin, in another interview, defended his behavior by recalling when people in Congress used to cane each other when in a dispute.

“Those aren’t good old days! We shouldn’t be doing that,” Kilmeade said.

“Well, I don’t know,” Jones responded. “I think there needs to be a little — there’s a lot of aggression in Congress. I wish they would just get it out.”

They proceeded to bring up Rep. Tim Burchett’s (R-TN) claim that and former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) elbowed him in the back. Doocy eventually managed to bring the Mullin segment to a close though by agreeing with Laura Ingraham that this conduct was beneath them.

“They are senators, they should probably rise above the shabbiness.”
