‘I Was Ready to Shut His Mouth Up!’ GOP Senator Takes Victory Lap On Fox After Nearly Starting Fistfight With a Witness
Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) took a victory lap on Fox News and Fox Business after his brawl with a Senate witness on Tuesday — which nearly got physical.
Hours after his wild confrontation with Teamsters President Sean O’Brien, the former MMA fighter and current Oklahoma senator received a warm welcome from Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“I’ve gotta be honest, I don’t think this is going to hurt you with the people of Oklahoma,” Hannity said. “I think your pop popularity probably will go up tenfold as a result.”
Mullin fully defended his actions, and boasted that he had intimidated the witness.
“You should have seen the fear of his eyes when I stood up,” Mullin said.
He added, “What do people want me to do? If I didn’t do that, people would be pretty upset at me.”
Earlier in the evening, the Senator visited Fox Business — where he told hosts Dagen McDowell and Sean Duffy just how close he was to actually coming to blows with Sean O’Brien.
“When I stood up, he was scared out of his mind,” Mullin said. “Because he was very thankful that Bernie Sanders stopped us after he said, ‘Okay, we can do it now.’ I thought, ‘Great, this is going to be a great day.’ I mean, no offense, but I really wasn’t worried about the fight itself. I was ready to shut his mouth up!”
