Trump and Gutfeld Joke Around About Latest Shooting Attempt: ‘I Always Said Golf Is a Very Dangerous Game’
Former President Donald Trump and Fox News host Greg Gutfeld joked together about the latest assassination attempt against the 45th president during a special episode of Gutfeld on Wednesday.
Interviewing Trump for a pre-taped special episode of his show, Gutfeld poked fun at Sundays’ assassination attempt, which took place at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Mr. T, how’s your golf game?” asked Gutfeld.
“Well, I haven’t been thinking about it too much lately. I always said golf was a very dangerous game,” replied Trump, to laughter from the audience.
Gutfeld mocked, “It really is, especially if they’re playing with you.”
His colleagues audibly shocked at the remark, Gutfeld questioned, “What? That was a mean joke?”
Trump replied that the incident was “pretty sad,” before Gutfeld then asked, “If they had told you that the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your 3 wood?”
“I think so. I think so, if I knew,” said Trump. “Actually, the Secret Service did a great job. They saw the barrel of a gun, big gun, and he came out through bushes, and how many people would see that? He really was very exceptional to have done it.”
58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh – a registered independent who volunteered to fight in Ukraine against Russia – was arrested following the assassination attempt.
A Secret Service fired at Routh after spotting him with an AK-47 in a bush at Trump’s golf course, 400 yards away from the former president.
