‘I AM SAFE AND WELL!’ Trump Issues Statement After Shooting at His Golf Club

Former President Donald Trump issued his first statement following a shooting near his golf club in West Palm Beach.

The GOP nominee was reportedly in the vicinity of gunshots as he was leaving his Florida golf course on Sunday. CNN reported in the immediate aftermath of the incident that the former president might have been the target of a gunman who was late apprehended by local authorities.

Secret Service released a statement soon after the shooting noting that Trump was “safe following gunshots in his vicinity.” In an email to his supporters on Sunday, he reiterated this news.

In a campaign email to his supporters, Trump wrote, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!

He added, “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”

Secret Service reportedly returned fire with the gunman who was armed with a AK-47. A suspect who was found in a vehicle matching the description of the shooter’s car was detained by law enforcement.
