JUST IN: Biden, Harris ‘Relieved’ Trump Safe After Shooting at His Golf Course

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris said they were “relieved” on Sunday afternoon to know former President Donald Trump was safe after he was shot at an hour earlier while leaving Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
According to a report from CNN, police believe a man with an AK-47 targeted the former president and 2024 GOP nominee after he concluded a round of golf. A suspect was reportedly detained by local police.
CNN’s John Miller reported he had been told by police officials that Trump was fired at and the former president’s Secret Service detail returned fire. The network also reported Biden and Harris were briefed on the situation and each addressed the incident.
The network reported:
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are both “relieved to know” that Donald Trump is safe and have been briefed on the security incident involving the former president while he was golfing earlier Sunday, according to the White House. Biden and Harris, both of whom are in Washington, DC, with no public events today, will be kept updated by their team.
“The President and Vice President have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. They will be kept regularly updated by their team,” according to a statement from the White House.
Police will hold a press conference on Sunday afternoon about the reported attempted shooting.
Trump’s campaign said in a statement that he was not injured.
Miller reported, “So, this is what we have right now from law enforcement sources who have been briefed on this, and it appears that around two o’clock, shots were fired at the golf course, possibly coming from the tree line while former president Trump was playing golf. The Secret Service identified the direction and the shooter returned fire at that gunman, who fled. Witnesses were able to provide a description of an individual and a vehicle.”
