A shocking new poll from Pew Research has found that President Joe Biden’s approval rating may be underwater by over 30 points.
According to the survey of over 5,000 Americans conducted between January 16 and 21, 65% of the country disapproves of Biden’s performance in office, while just 33% say they approve — and that’s just the tip of the spear of the bad news for the incumbent.
Forty-four percent of Americans not only disapprove, but “strongly disapprove” of Biden, and his numbers with key Democratic demographics are poor. Biden’s numbers with women (33% approve, 65% disapprove) are the exact same as his numbers with the general public. He does even worse (27%-71%) with voters between the ages of 18-29, is underwater with college graduates (36%-62%), Hispanics (32%-65%), and Black voters (48%-49%).
Twenty-nine percent of the country would call Biden “sharp.” Just 26% and 24%, respectively, would describe him as “inspiring” or “energetic.”
The margin of error for the poll is +/- 1.7%.

These results might portend doom for a president already trailing the likely Republican nominee, former president Donald Trump in most polls.
According to RealClearPolitics, Trump defeats Biden by an average of 3.8 points in surveys testing what a hypothetical rematch between the two might look like.
Of course, Trump would not even necessarily need to win the popular vote in November in order to retake the White House.
In 2020, Biden won the popular vote easily, but only prevailed in the election thanks to his narrow margins of victory in Georgia, where he won by .23%, Pennsylvania (1.17%), Arizona (.30%), and Wisconsin (.63%).
Earlier this week, Trump performed better than he ever has against Biden in a tracking poll conducted by Morning Consult that has been running since 2022, besting him by five points, 45%-40%.
