Jesse Watters Praises Trump’s ‘Power Move’ to Invite Chinese President to Inauguration: ‘Puts Him in a Subservient Position’

Fox News host Jesse Watters praised the genius of President-elect Donald Trump’s “power move” invitation to China’s President Xi Jinping to attend the inauguration, which he claims will put the foreign leader in a “subservient position.”

As early as November, Trump reportedly began issuing invites to foreign dignitaries to attend his swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 20, 2025. But it was news that Trump had invited Xi, which made headlines on Wednesday.

Key members of Trump’s inner circle, including Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), his nominee for secretary of state, and incoming national security adviser Mike Waltz, continue to take a hard line against Xi Jinping’s government. Trump has also threatened to raise tariffs on Chinese goods.

Although it is unclear whether Xi has accepted the invite or will attend, Watters lauded the idea as an opportunity for Trump to display himself to “intimidate” the Chinese leader.

The president-elect has invited XI Jinping of China to witness his inauguration. This is a power move to intimidate the Chinese leader. If he declines, it’s disrespectful and Trump will take it personally. And if he accepts, he’ll be forced to observe President Trump at his most powerful moment with all the presidential pageantry America can muster. You put XI Jinping in a subservient position. Plus you can spy on him the whole time he’s in D.C.
