‘Oh, He Can’t?!’ Jesse Watters Gets Reality Check After Claiming South African-Born Musk Will Run for President

Jesse Watters was fact-checked by his co-host on Wednesday after claiming that Elon Musk will run for president.

Though he is a U.S. citizen, Musk was born in South Africa to South African parents. Under Article II of the Constitution, he cannot be president.

Musk is a fervent supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and spent hundreds of millions of dollars to return him to the White House. Currently, Musk and his companies are under at least 20 federal investigations or reviews that may very well cease when Trump becomes president in January. On Tuesday, Trump announced Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead an advisory commission called the “Department of Government Efficiency.”

Musk accompanied Trump to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday and received a standing ovation from congressional Republicans.

The co-hosts of The Five on Fox News praised the appointment of Musk and Ramaswamy.

“We have total faith in those two,” Jeanine Pirro said.

“I do,” Watters replied. “I love those two, and I like them together. Musk and Vivek, just perfect. And I think Musk might be running for president. I’m gonna put it out there.”

“Where was he born?” Pirro asked rhetorically.

“Oh, he can’t?!” Watters exclaimed.

“Hello, Jesse,” Pirro cracked.

“Ah, man. I’m predicting he’s not running for president,” Watters said.

“Good call,” Pirro responded.

Musk reportedly spent a lot of time at Mar-a-Lago before joining Trump for the trip to the nation’s capital. Sources in Trump’s inner circle told Politico that Musk even expressed interest in accompanying the president-elect to the White House for a meeting with President Joe Biden. The idea “prompted a bewildered reaction inside Trump world.”
