‘They Hate Black Women!’ Hollywood Star Disgusts Bill Maher by Blaming Trump Win on Bigotry — Not ‘Wokeness’

Comic, pundit, and podcast host Bill Maher was disgusted when iconic 80s star Jon Cryer blamed President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris on bigotry rather than “wokeness.”

Cryer — former star of the long-running television hit Two and a Half Men and originator of the role of Duckie in Pretty In Pink — was the guest on this week’s edition of Maher’s Club Random Podcast, during which the election came up.

Maher — a frequent critic of what he views as excessive “wokeness” in liberal politics — scoffed when Cryer pushed back on the notion that the phenomenon WAS to blame for Trump’s victory and attributed it to a hatred of trans people and Black women instead:

BILL MAHER: I don’t know. Sometimes people say things that trigger me. And of course, we just had the election. And I feel like I– my conscience is very clear. I warned everybody about Trump, and then I warned them that I warned them about what would get him reelected, which was stupid wokeness, which is what got him reelected.

So I feel my conscience is very clear that I–. I told you and I told you and I told you. And I lost fans for it. You know, lots of the super woke that like, I’m not I’m not woke enough. Yeah, but like I think I had it right. Like that kind of stuff is what lost the election from the Democrats. It’s in all–.

JON CRYER: Maybe part of it? I don’t know. I think a lot–.

BILL MAHER: They have polling on it. It’s–.

JON CRYER: Well, I think it’s inflation. I think Americans hate inflation.

BILL MAHER: Certainly was part of it–.

JON CRYER: They hate inflation. They hate riots and they hate Black women. And they hate trans people.

BILL MAHER: God, Jon, we’re not going to–.

JON CRYER: Dude they just spent hundreds of millions of dollars.

BILL MAHER: They don’t hate Black–.

JON CRYER: –demonizing trans people and and that’s disgusting.

BILL MAHER: Oh– Yeah. We shouldn’t talk politics.

JON CRYER: Okay. We shouldn’t. I mean great. I don’t, we don’t have to.

BILL MAHER: And this you know, I mean I have this kind of relationship with people on the right also who like like yeah it’s just going to take so long to even have this discussion.

And I like, I want just like I would like to deprogram them. I feel like there’s things that don’t get in your bubble on the left that I would love to deprogram, but it’s probably not the place to do it.

Yeah, but you can try it. If you, if that’s how you want to spend your leisure hours, I mean. Deprogramming Duckie. (laughs) There’s– there’s a spinoff.
